Mexia Chosen Again for Limestone County Interscholastic Meet

The Limestone County Interscholastic League meet will be held in Mexia on March 19 and 20 with Prof. C A Puckett as director general and Jere Cason offering Chamber of Commerce support. Directors announced plans for a broad program aimed at maximum school participation across the county.

Mrs. J. L. Wilder Dies at 81 After 50 Years in Mexia

Mrs. J L Wilder aged nearly 82 and a longtime Mexia resident died Thursday night at 8 40 at the home of her daughter Mrs G E Petty 301 North Ross avenue The funeral will be Friday at 4 p m from the Petty home with Rev W B Andrews of the First Methodist church officiating Interment in Mexia Cemetery She was born Mary Ellen Newell September 25 1842 in Green County Alabama Married to J L Wilder January 10 1867 in Vienna Pickens County Alabama and lived in Texas 55 years Mrs Wilder a lifelong Methodist reader of the Bible survived by four children Eddie Wilder Fort Worth A M Wilder Shreveport Mrs G W Petty Mexia and A E Wilder Dallas one sister Mrs Dora Groover Mexia and one brother Joe Newell Fairfield John R Corley company in charge of the funeral.

Walton Named President of A and M College

T C Walton eight years director of the extension department at A and M College was elected president by the board of regents in Houston. He succeeds Dr Bizzell who left to head the University of Oklahoma. Reginald Vanderbilt Dies at Sandy Point Farm

Reginald C. Vanderbilt, one of the nation’s richest men, died suddenly at 4:15 a.m. at his country home Sandy Point Farm in Portsmouth, BR. He suffered internal hemorrhages after first being stricken at 9 p.m. The physician ordered bed rest, a second hemorrhage at 3 a.m. preceded his death, with his wife at his side.
