The Mexia Chamber of Commerce hosts a city park Play Day and Fourth of July celebration July 4 featuring arts and crafts by the Mexia Art League, age group contests, and a Family Team competition. Evening events at Black Cat Stadium include a patriotic concert led by Royce Thomas and a large fireworks display funded as a memorial to J. H. Nussbaum.
