Severe storms sweep Texas High Plains blowing hail and rain

Lamb and Bailey counties bore the brunt of a damaging weather system with Sudan Amherst Muleshoe and Hart hit hardest. Rain totals reached up to ten inches at Sudan and four inches at Muleshoe while power lines and roads flooded. Severe winds up to 80 mph accompanied the hail wrecking crops and triggering outages. Dozens of towns in flood plagued Kansas reported rising waters and delayed harvests as the storm moved through the region.

Kosse Pioneer Mary Louisa Marrett Dies at 98 in Houston

Funeral services were held Sunday for Mrs. Mary Louisa Marrett of Houston who would have turned 99 in October. She had lived in Kosse for 52 years and was a member of the community. She leaves a son S. G. Marrett of Houston.
