Funeral services were set for Monday afternoon at 2 in Fort Worth for Vernon Archer 49 a former Service Pipe Line employee and Mexia resident. He died unexpectedly in Irving of a heart attack while visiting his sister in law en route from Beaumont to his Fort Worth home. Warlingen reports the first bale of the 1950 crop reaching Harlingen Sunday night. Jack Armstrong, farmer 13 miles northwest of Mission, grew the bale which weighed 469 pounds after ginning, beating the 450 pound minimum. Armstong expects at least $2,500.
