Weekend socials and church notes fill small town
The Baptist church held Sunday school with plans for a preacher. The Church of Christ was well attended. A bridal shower for Otis Roark and bride-to-be was held Saturday night at the lunch room. Mr. Brown returned from a Waco hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Kubiak hosted visiting family. The Sunday anniversary event was a success. Visitors included the Byrds with daughter and family from La Mesa, and Mr. and Mrs. Munger Burney. Houston visitors L. L. Wells called on Tom McElroy. Ella Sawyer hosted guests including Lee Sellers, Minnie Wood, Irene Terry of Corpus Christi. Tom McElroy and Richard Bradley are working on a new home on the old Sawyer place. Rain is hoped for to help corn. A note states two of every three radio hams are American, and one in 50 is a woman.
