8 500 Foot Test Near Thornton Sparks Oilman Interest
A proposed 8500 foot wildcat test in Southwest Limestone County near Thornton draws oilmen’s attention after Tuesday’s announcement. The B. B. Seaman Number 1 well will drill about five miles northwest of Thornton to reach the Smackover lime outside the Mexia fault system, with preliminary drilling already done in the area. The test targets Jurassic depths and sits on a 313.76 acre tract in the C. A. Ogsberry Survey, on the west side of East Texas district.

Fort Parker Park Sees Big Sunday With Large Crowds
Park visitors rose to one of the park's busiest Sundays as about 2,000 people visited Fort Parker State Park for a day at the lake over the past two Sundays. Some 300 swimmers enjoyed the water despite cool temperatures while 75 gathered for a District 15 Christian Men's Fellowship session. The Houston Variety Boys club will visit Fort Parker next Sunday through the following Saturday, joining the annual Waco Variety Boys camping event with about 90 attendees expected for lake activities. Park manager Murphy Walton notes ideal spring weather and marks the first sprinkler use since October aiding the clubhouse lawn.

The Melotones a five piece string band from Waco entertained about 1200 patients at Mexia State School and Home from 7 to 9 p m Tuesday night.
