Washington reports that the Ways and Means Committee is expected to approve a higher debt limit with little opposition. Chairman Mills plans to separate the debt limit bill from Eisenhower's bond interest proposal. Democrats oppose the president’s plan to lift the 4.14 percent cap on long term government bond interest.
The 10 member House Senate conferees remain deadlocked over the tax measure. The session will automatically end at midnight with no agreement on money-raising measures including cigarette tax and corporate franchise taxes. Rep Don Kennard says Senate won't budge while talks continue in closed doors for a possible revival tomorrow.
The City of Mexia announced plans to add extra trucks for hauling trash during a late June clean up campaign. The drive is in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce civic improvements committee chaired by Tommy Maden. Citizens should place trash in cardboard boxes for pickup if weather allows.
W. W. Lincoln and associates secured a drilling lease at Fort Parker State Park near Bain's Creek. A test well is expected to spud about June 25 on a farmout from the Dorphman Estate.
Daily forecast notes partly cloudy conditions in North Central Texas through Wednesday with isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms. No major temperature changes expected. Mexia reports a 24 hour period ending Tuesday at 7:30 shows high 88 and low 70.

A prank call directed two fire trucks and five firefighters to the Corner Book Store around 10 40 a m. Fire officials say a young boy made the call, describing the scene as a childish prank and prompting an urgent response.
Fathers or families in the Mexia trade area have four days to register in 47 local stores for a total prize pool of 282 dollars to be shared equally among four winners. The public drawing will occur Saturday at 5 p.m. in front of the radio station on Commerce Street.

Earnest H. King, 32, Mexia Negro, charged with murder by torture in the death of Cylishin Moody, 62, of Mexia. Autopsy by Dr. K P Willstruck found a cerebral hemorrhage. Moody was bound and tied, found unconscious at her home after neighbors reported missing to police. King was arrested in Groesbeck and has been held in Limestone County jail.

Funeral services for 10 month old William Travis Miller infant son of Mr and Mrs Billy M Miller Victoria were held Monday at 3 pm in Ham Brothers chapel Teague. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. The infant died Saturday night in a Victoria hospital after an autopsy was performed. Survivors include sister Detoria Miller and brother James Miller both of Victoria. Grandparents Marvin Miller Houston Mrs Jane Brown Florida and Mrs Dora Kobel El Paso. Great grandparents Mrs Jim Miller Teague and Mr and Mrs A T Boykin Buffalo.
American evangelist Billy Graham arrived in Paris from Moscow praising the moral purity he found there. He spoke about his impressions as he traveled, highlighting cultural contrasts and his ongoing religious mission.
A Greyhound bus with 35 aboard collided head on with a car pulling a boat on a trailer near Houston. Two people were killed, four injured critically, including Ralph A. Zinneck er and his wife Vanda Jinnicker’s family. One bus passenger from Clinton Iowa hospitalized.
