Mexia Police Investigate Three Auto Accidents Monday
Mexia police investigated three automobile accidents on Monday. At 11:25 a.m. in the 300 block of East Milam Conny Curry Cook and Thelma Allen Ainsworth, both of Mexia, collided in a 1977 Ford and a 1966 Oldsmobile causing moderate damage. At 5:20 p.m. in the 900 block of East Milam Allie Bounds Floyd of Tehuacana drove a 1968 Chevrolet into a 1972 Ford driven by Mary Henderson Daily of Mexia with moderate damage to both cars. At 3:45 p.m. at 100 East Commerce John Charles Minze of Coolidge collided a 1970 Pontiac driven by Horace Raymond Quigley of Mexia with light damage to Quigley and moderate damage to Minze. Additional police actions included a stolen battery, stolen CB radio, and vandalism to a vacant house.

Two farm workers Abraham Scerno and Able Fernandez both in their mid twenties were trapped for about nine hours after a tractor overturned eighteen miles west of Mexia off Old Cotton Gin Road Highway 84. They were discovered around 7 pm and taken to Waco hospitals in serious condition.
