A Capitol building fire forced about 1,000 people from upper floors before midnight. Two firemen were overcome by smoke as elevator cages moved passengers to safety. The blaze caused an estimated $100,000 in damage with smoke filling elevator shafts and stairwells.
Washington reports Alaska's vast untapped wealth awaits exploration as President Harding plans a summer visit. The territory spans 590000 square miles larger than the Atlantic states, with major forests like Tongass National Forest holding an estimated 70000000000 board feet. A batch of thirty six eggs stored in a Bonham shop room for nearly a year hatched without a mother. Four hatchlings emerged as the eggs, unaltered by seasonal temperature changes, began to crack their ancient shells with more expected.

Homer W. Heatley of Dallas explains how he was officially dead in a government World War casualty list while alive and recovering after a French battle near Saint Etienne. He earned the Croix de Guerre for bravery in a hospital corps action and later helped back prisoners. Heatley, a Southern Methodist University student, is pursuing a commercial degree. Also listed: Odd Fellows meeting at Knights of Pythias hall and local notices about practice and tryouts at Aviation field, with reminders for community events and a ball game challenge.

A man named Mr. Cox was killed near Kosse when mules kicked to move and dragged him across a farm, mangling his body. The accident happened at the home of Mr. Ox, about seven miles west of Kosse, while he was feeding mules at noon. Undertaking company was called to assist.
