James Moore says agreement talks with Rock Island Railroad will shape the operation size. The firm leases 16 oil tanks from AMOCO across the road and plans to store Kansas wheat there, aiming to link with Southern Pacific railroad.

The Texas Water Quality Board approved a permit for Streetman to build a wastewater treatment plant with an 80,000 gallon per day capacity serving about 800 people in 20 years. Treated effluent will discharge into Sloan Creek.
The Limestone County Grand Jury, led by foreman Zeph Oswalt, delivered indictments to Judge Clarence Ferguson. Named defendants include Otis Hardaway for Burglary, Ed Caviness for Theft by Check twice, S M Chambers for three counts of Sale of Controlled Substances, Ray Gene Henderson for Receiving Stolen Property, Johnnie Spence for Auto Theft, Otis Allen Smith and James Edward Thomas among others for Capital Murder and related charges. District Attorney Don S Caldwell Jr presented the cases.
The Chaplain's Department at Mexia State School plans extended extracurricular programs for about 2000 residents this summer. With new staff, existing programs such as Chapel Outreach will expand as chapel members lead devotional presentations off campus.

Texas A M University history professor Lloyd C Taylor Jr 53 died after his routine run at Kyle Field in College Station. The incident was reported by AP with local university officials confirming the death occurred Tuesday.
The Mexia Business and Professional Women's Club formed a Living Memorial Fund to raise about 300 dollars for tuition and fees for a student at Bi Stone School of Vocational Nursing. Funds support nursing scholarships while honoring living or deceased individuals. donations go through committee chairmen Claudine Aman, Ruth West, and Jewel Woods.
