Don the Beachcomber could not attend the Mexia Christmas reunion but rang in from Honolulu to speak with his mother Mrs. D H Gant and his siblings Walter Gaunt Groesbeck Hugh Gant Reed Gant and Mrs Henry Atkinson and Mrs N B Hyden. He owns a Honolulu souvenir shop and famed restaurant and sent rare foods for Mexia Christmas dinner. He plans a February visit to Mexia.
Clyde M. Lucky, 66, was injured Sunday in Dallas when his foot slipped onto the accelerator after stopping to drop a letter. His car shot forward 56 feet, jumped a curb, and rammed into a tree, with a possible ankle fracture reported.

Betty Jane Mitchell a 12 year old girl locked the bathroom door and hanged herself with a towel after being scolded by her mother for scorching clothing while ironing. The body was found by her brother Jimmy Mitchell 15 after he looked through a window when the door wouldn t open. Justice of the Peace Pierce McBride ruled death by self action. Father C C Mitchell forced the door to reach her. Police and emergency squad could not revive her.
Funeral services were held at Dorsey-Keatts Chapel for Collier Nixon a 70 year old Mexia resident who died yesterday in a local hospital. Rev Q O Short officiated and burial followed in Mexia Negro cemetery. Nixon born June 2 1886 lived in Mexia all his life and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by a daughter Willine Nixon Houston a son Lozelle Nixon Odessa six nephews and one niece.
An eight year old youth who loved fishing drowned in Brooks Lake off Oyster Creek. Francis B Campbell failed to return home after a Saturday trip to the lake. his body was recovered Sunday night.
