In Yuba City the Feather River burst a 600 foot levee gap, flooding the deserted town for the second time in a week. Water rose three inches an hour and filled half the town before receding. Officials fear up to 100 victims remain. Armed guards barred returns to the ooze covered homes. 53 lives lost across California Oregon Nevada, plus a landslide burying five in Oregon.

Last rites will be held at the Dorsey-Keatts chapel Wednesday afternoon for John Walker a one year old Mexia Negro who died at his home. The Rev R C Carr pastor of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church will officiate with burial by Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home. Walker was born in Mexia on Sept 1 1884 and lived there all his life. He is survived by a brother Eloch Jefferson Dallas three sisters Mrs Mary Hishon Mexia Mrs L E Coleman Mexia and Mrs J M Wright Detroit Mich and one niece and nephew.
