Six jailed escapees captured after high speed chase
Six men jailed at Georgetown overpowered the jailer and fled in a stolen 1951 Ford. They forced entry at a Groesbeck home, robbed Mrs Adkins and family at gunpoint, and seized clothing cash and a .22 rifle before stealing a 1956 Chevrolet. They later robbed a motel near Dover and were involved in a crash and gunfire with a state trooper. All six were captured by dawn and arraigned on armed robbery and attempted murder charges.
