Open heart surgery with four bypasses forces Rev. O B Cook to retire from Faith Assembly of God Church in Mexia. He and Mrs. Cook move back to Athens. Mrs. Cook praises the Faith Assembly congregation and local community for support during recovery.
A 20 story North Dallas apartment building fire before dawn killed two firefighters and injured two others plus two residents. About 300 residents were evacuated as 75 to 100 firefighters battled flames from the 14th floor for two hours. Residents were rescued from balconies and elevators amid smoke and 32 degree temperatures.
Dr. Joseph L. Schuster of Texas A&M University earns the Rangeman of the Year award from the Texas Section of the Society of Range Management at Abilene. He heads the Range Science Department and directs statewide range education and research programs.
