Former textile magnate Bernard Goldfine was sentenced to three months in prison for contempt of court related to his refusal to surrender business records. Mildred Paperman, his secretary, received 10 days. both delay imprisonment until January 7 to allow appeals and Christmas at home. Adams admitted gifts but denied attempts to influence agencies.
C. E. Christie, 64, once a Mexia resident, died Saturday in a Houston hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services are planned for tomorrow in Houston with burial there. Christie born in Pennsylvania came to Mexia in 1926 lived here until 1941. He was district superintendent of Sinclair Pipeline Co. and affiliated with the Baptist church. He leaves his wife, a son Co E Christie Jr of Houston, and a brother in Junction. George Lewis Funeral Home of Houston has arrangements.
Marian Ann Mc Knight 22 Miss America 1957 wed Army Pvt Gareth Carmody 23 of Hollywood in a simple civil ceremony at Palm Springs. The couple honeymooned this week as friends attended and the event was reported by United Press International.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church for Lubrrda Moffett a lifelong Mexia resident. Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery with Rev David C Echols officiating and Dorsey Keatts Funeral Home of Mexia in charge.

Jewett businessman Charles LaGrone was found shot to death about two miles north of Jewett on Bonner Smith ranch. A noon hunting trip ended with a fatal discharge as he crossed a fence. an inquest judge withheld verdict. He leaves a widow, a daughter Betsy Thompson of Buffalo, and a son Bubba LaGrone of Deer Park.
William Olevan Sullivan 71 of Groesbeck died Sunday after a long illness. Rites held at Prairie Point Baptist Church with Rev. C W McCarter and Rev. Gaylon Henry officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery near Kosse. Survivors include wife Pearl Sullivan, three daughters, two sisters, one brother, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Riddle Funeral Home of Mexia in charge.
The U.S. Weather Bureau reports occasional rain with a mild trend. Skies remain mostly cloudy with light showers possible and temperatures lingering around 48 tonight and 66 tomorrow.
