Vice President Hubert H Humphrey and President Johnson vow unwavering resolve in fighting poverty and ignorance while approving a 1967 economic plan. A Moscow AP dispatch notes persistent Soviet military spending and a Boston AP report says Massachusetts tax officials check Christmas tree sellers for the three percent sales tax.
The Woman's Friday Club held its annual Christmas program and tea at Gibbs Memorial Library. Executive Board hostesses led the event with a decorated room, a Ross Elementary Choir performance directed by Mrs. Jim Ramsey, and soloists Tracy Taylor and Larry Jones. Tea followed, featuring festive decorations, a green felt table cover, brass candelabra, and a central carnation arrangement. Mrs. Rufus E. Price presided over the tea urn.
The Junior Friday Club in Gibbs Memorial Library had thirteen members and one guest Mrs Michael Williamson. President Mrs Jesse Edwards led the business session which approved a December 20 Christmas box drive for Ward 3 at Mexia State School and featured guest speaker Mrs L L Steele presenting Madonna Arrangements.
