With 150 plus children on the list, the group repairs, wraps, and distributes toys door to door Christmas Eve. Donations of toys, wrapping supplies, and even canned goods are welcomed at the station or by calling 962-5385 or 562-6248.
Lynette Squeaky Fromme, 27, is sentenced to life in federal prison for attempting to assassinate President Ford. She struggled with marshals, shouted at the judge, and threw an apple at the prosecutor during sentencing. The judge ruled she cannot be rehabilitated. Fromme countered she had done nothing wrong.
Democratic senatorial nominee Phil Gramm said U S Sen Lloyd Bentsen lied about his attendance citing Congressional Quarterly showing Bentsen was absent one quarter of 1974 roll votes. Gramm challenged Bentsen as ninth worst in attendance and accused him of serving only his political interests.
On Sunday December 14 Limestone County deputies investigated a stolen pickup report from Dallas girl Lana Triana. Investigators found the truck belonged to a Dallas man and was used by Triana and two Prairie Hill students, David Pierce and Terry Anderson, who allegedly damaged the transmission and removed a CB radio and a .22 pistol. Triana was charged with filing a false report. Pierce and Anderson faced misdemeanor charges. All pleaded guilty and were released after paying AMOR.
Washington AP reports the House sustained President Ford's veto of a bill extending the 1975 income tax cuts. The move means most working Americans will face higher income taxes starting January 1.
Mexia school district sets Friday dismissal times for holidays. Ross Elementary and Forest Glade depart at 2:00 PM, Middle School at 2:15 PM, and High School at 2:90 PM.
