Letters To Santa From Texas Kids

A collection of child shaped Christmas letters from Mexican and Dallas area youths. Shelli Smith requests a Kissy doll a dress-up dancing costume and a cowgirl outfit Yolanda Lanotte asks for a Tammy doll candy and fruit Gerald Wayner Davis age four asks for a giant teddy bear a gun and holster clothes and surprises plus gifts for family He also mentions visiting grandparents and bringing something for relatives Bobby Bradshaw asks for a fire chief truck a big truck with cars and a talking phone and sends regards to Rosie Lea and other friends. The letters note leaving milk pies and apples for Santa and reindeer and reference a local use of a want ad.

Mrs Iva Webster hosted Elmer Comer and family Mary Eakins Rhoda Webster and Arch O Neal for the weekend. Mrs Sam O Neal visited Crockett mother. Willard Funderburk Pearl Sullivan visited Houston with W A Funderburk Ken Cobb. Mrs Ken Cobb reported improving health. Church Christmas tree planned for December 22 with all invited.

U N General Assembly Ends 18th Session

The United Nations General Assembly closed its 18th session with reports of progress and ongoing tensions in the cold war era. China Will Buy Argentina Grain for 2 Million Tons

An Argentine firm reported a contract to supply Red China with 2 million tons of grain by year end 1965 including wheat corn and rice. Nine Coal Miners Die In Utah Explosion

Nine miners were killed and another injured in an explosion at a Utah coal mine described as a model operation. The blast struck the face of a tunnel shaft where two shafts diverge from a 2,800 foot drift near the community, causing a deadly collapse and trapping workers.
