The Wesleyan Service Guild of the First United Methodist Church will meet at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the parsonage for a Christmas party and program. Mrs. Henry Radde will present the program. Hostesses include Mrs. Clovis Bounds Mrs. Marcus Glover Mrs. Lela McGowan Miss Mary Fallin and Mrs. Paul Page.
The Media Chapter No.7 Order Eastern Star observes its annual Christmas party at a stated meeting at 7:90 Monday night at 315 East Commerce Street with a 6:30 p.m. covered dish supper. Mrs. Ruby Zumwalt is Worthy Matron and Don Layne is Worthy Patron.
The Dorcas Class of the First United Methodist Church gathered Thursday night at Mrs. Joe G. Wilson’s home for a covered-dish supper and Christmas party. Christmas decor featured a life sized Santa beside a decorated tree. New officers were elected for January 1: Mrs. J R Truett president, Mrs. Marion F Brown vice president, Mrs. W D Hancock secretary treasurer.
Social event highlights holiday open house hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Forrest and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Beene Jr on South Grant Street. Guests greeted in a festively decorated home with Santa cutouts, a white flecked Christmas tree, and ornate tables and garlands. Assistance by several hostesses noted. terrace and garden glow with hundreds of lights and a Santa figure at the entrance.
The First United Methodist Church choir will perform The Night The Angels Sang by John W. Peterson at the 10 30 worship service led by Reverend Henry W Radde. Mrs Wyatt Hayter directs and plays the organ with a roster including Jim Ramsey Mrs John Bennett and several others in solo and chorus parts.
Mrs. Kenny Little of Irving, a recent bride, was honored at a bridal shower hosted by Mrs. Audley Spurlin on South Canton Street. Guests included Ken Maynard and several hostesses, with corsage gifts, a bride’s book display, and a yellow and white themed tea table featuring stocks, yellow carnations, and leatherleaf fern.
