New Jersey Murder Figure Freed After Plea Change

Edgar H. Smith Jr. is freed from Death Row after admitting the 1957 slaying of 15 year old Victoria Zielinski in Bergen County. The plea to no defense followed a coerced confession ruling and carries 25 to 30 year sentence with time served credited. Buckley financed appeals and Smith discusses why he changed his stance to seek freedom.

Gordon Quits NASA to join Saints owner Mecom

Astronaut Richard Gordon Jr. announced he will retire from NASA on January 1 and take a position with Mecom Enterprises, owned by John Mecom Jr., owner of the New Orleans Saints. He may work for the Saints or in another Mecom venture and plans to relocate from Houston or move to New Orleans. Gordon, 42, a Navy captain, joined NASA as an astronaut in 1963 and flew Gemini 11 and Apollo 12. He is married with six children.
