Mexia High Honors Top Students At Assembly
Mexia High School honored twenty seven top students at a Friday assembly in the auditorium. Fifteen new members joined the William Wallace Mason Jr. Chapter of the National Honor Society based on scholarship leadership service and character. Inductees must have an average of 85 or higher and be exemplary in conduct with faculty vetting. A tea followed the program to recognize members and their families.

Betty Ingram daughter of Mr and Mrs J C Ingram won the 1964 65 FFA Sweetheart title at Mexia High School after a selection process that reduced 61 eligible juniors and seniors to 15 then three finalists Betty attended the District 1 Sweetheart Contest in Corsicana on December 7 where Rhonda Bates of Kerens won and Cassy Burleson of Groesbeck placed second The duties of the FFA Sweetheart include attending meetings representing the chapter at events entering contests having a portrait made for the annual gallery and wearing the Sweetheart Jacket.
