The Mexia Friday Club slated a 3 pm Christmas program at Ross Elementary PTA meeting tomorrow. The Mexia Black Cat band will perform at 3 pm in the gym, with public invitation. Also planned are basketball games vs Athens and Belt, aviation cadet recruitment in Waco, and a Limestone Baptist Association workers conference at First Baptist Mexia with supper and meetings.

Bloodmobile to Visit Mexia Wednesday for 70 Pint Goal
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at First Methodist Church in Mexia from 2 to 6 PM Wednesday, aiming to collect 70 pints. Limestone County Blood Program chairman Gene Womack cites holiday crash risks and urges donors 18 to 65. Previous Sept trip total was 70 pints but fell short. local Juniors will assist with loading and unloading equipment.

Mexia Student Delma Posey Named to Who’s Who at A&M
Mexia senior Delma Posey, a 1955 Mexia High School graduate and a Texas A&M College zoology student, is among 37 area students named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Posey received a $2,000-a-year four-year Baylor College of Medicine scholarship and works as biology lab instructor and histology assistant at A&M. He plans to graduate in June and begin medical studies in September.

Escape attempt by Gatesville trainees ends with capture
Five juvenile inmates at Gatesville School for Boys attempted to escape abducting a father and son at knifepoint. In Temple, four were captured after a roadblock of Texas Highway Patrol units. a fifth was run down. Maj. Elliott credited a regional radio alert for the swift arrest. In Gatesville, two 17 year olds are jailed in Coryell County, the other three, ages 16, were placed under maximum security at the school.

Two Crest Line Homes Win FHA Approval
Two newly built houses in the Crest Line Addition received FHA approval from housing inspectors. Four foundations have been poured by Paul Contracting Company of Houston for four houses, with two foundations to be inspected Thursday. G. E. Eddie Lee Calhoun, a Mexia man, was shot Saturday night around 11 30 on Belknap Street following an argument with Alton Tatum another Mexia man Tatum was arrested in Groesbeck on charges of assault with intent to murder The shooter used a .22 caliber rifle and the victim was to be transferred from the local hospital to a Veterans Hospital.
