Washington reports Agriculture officials expect growers in 50 states to back government marketing quotas for the 1950 cotton crop. A two thirds yes would enforce a 23 percent plantings cutback, while a nay from more than one third would trigger about a 45 percent drop in price supports, risking the southern cotton economy. $31,000 Suit Is Underway In Groesbeck
A $31,000 damage suit is being argued in 77th District Court at Groesbeck today. Plaintiff Jim Tatum, a Groesbeck resident, alleges his legs were broken when a Southern Pacific train struck his wagon on Navasota Street on January 5, 1949. His grandson Buddy Tatum testified he escaped injury by jumping from the wagon. The case, with Norton Fox and Clarence Ferguson for the plaintiff and L L Geren and F A Woods for the railroad, continues as medical testimony and disputed intersection visibility are presented.

Classmate Saves Teague Student From Death Leap
Paul Jennings 26, a Teague ministerial student at Houghton College, was talked down from Inspiration Point in Letchworth State Park by fellow student Bruce Merritt after a note hinted at suicide.
