Mr and Mrs Grady Wright of Mexia received a telegram from their son Cpl Bobby Lee Wright of the 2nd Infantry division in Korea He said he was well and urged them not to worry The telegram was sent from Seoul the capital of South Korea
The UN tabled a plan by 13 Arab and Asian nations to appoint a three member commission to arrange a Korea cease fire with strong US backing. Warren Austin urged the Red Chinese to choose peace over war, stressing UN forces safety as key. India backed cease-fire and peace conference resolutions amid Chinese Communist questions.

Mexia resident Mrs. Jewell Hensley won first prize in a national safety essay contest sponsored by Cargill Inc. She earned 150 dollars for the top essay titled What My Husband's Safety Means to Me. Her husband, R W Hensley, works at Cargill's Mexia grain storage plant. Clarence Swan, plant superintendent, noted about 150 wives and children of Cargill employees nationwide entered.
Two free motion pictures on traffic accidents and teen driving will be shown in Mexia. Texas Department of Public Safety sponsors the event with Mexia Jaycees safety committee. Mexia High students view Live and Let Live at 3 20 p m Thursday. the public sees The Last Date at 7 30 p m the same day in the high school auditorium. James Stanford chairs the safety committee.

Audie Murphy of Farmersville, famed World War II hero and Medal of Honor recipient, is expected to accompany Maj. Gen. H Miller Ainesworth as the 36th Infantry Division commander inspects the Mexia National Guard company tonight. Murphy serves as an aide and made headlines for leaving acting to join the Texas National Guard.
