Interscholastic League of Texas playoffs see Waco Tigers and Oak Cliff Leopards advance to the state final in Waco. Waco defeated Marshall and Oak Cliff beat Ranger 25 to 7. Final is set for next Saturday in Tysonland with both teams carrying strong regional records.
H. A. Streety of Amarillo won the Java drinking title by consuming 71 cagiet coffee in eight hours and thirty minutes. Gus T. Comstock of Fergus Falls protests and seeks a title match.
Henry L Hall 72 pioneer and church leader dies suddenly at his Mexia home after a brief illness. Funeral services set for Monday at 10 30 am with Central Presbyterian deacons as pallbearers and Corley Undertaking Co handling arrangements. Born February 9 1884 in Louisiana he later settled in Texas teaching in Cotton Gin and becoming a longtime office manager for the American Salvage Co.
James Haywood Allen died at his home at 707 East afiam Street leaving a widow three sons and two daughters. Funeral from the home Sunday at 1 30 pm conducted by Rev John A Held of the First Baptist Church with burial in Coolidge Cemetery. Pallbearers listed and arrangements by John R Corley Undertaking Company.
Vice President Charles G Dawes said to be preparing to donate his share of the Nobel Peace Prize fund to an organization aligned with the prize ideals. Geneva had proposed using the fund for child welfare or international work under the League of Nations. A separate note reports a drilling test near Deis No 1 in Green et al area with scouts visiting daily as depths and roads improve.

Washington December 11 After brief rebuttal in the Fall Doheny trial both sides said they were finished presenting testimony leaving only counsels summations and the judge's charges before 12 jurors render a verdict. Sing er John McCormick testified to Doheny's good character. Prosecution offered a brief rebuttal citing senate oil hearing and Los Angeles civil suit documents.
Mexia Rebekah Lodge No. 190 members and friends enjoyed a tacky party Friday night. Hostesses Mesdames Woolsey Huffman and Oates led the event. Mittie Glover reading drew thunderous applause. Bernice Williams danced a Charleston and Miss Cunningham sang. Owen Friend Watkins provided violin music for the dances.
R W McIllvain vice president and general manager of Pure Oil Company toured Texas division properties in Mexia this week. He stayed with B S Lo Belle Texas division general manager during the visit.
In Dallas the payroll messenger is robbed of 2806 by a single gunman who fled in a waiting car. The bandit, suspected to have accomplices, confronted W. P. Hardwick as he returned from the bank and escaped after seizing the payroll sack amid bystanders' cries.
