The William Wallace Mason chapter of the National Honor Society at Mexia High School inducted new seniors eleven and juniors ten in a December ceremony. Two-year members Molly Walker Linda Miller Dorothy Hardin Jolanda Love renewed pledges after a piano prelude and invocation.
Four 1961-62 members of the William Wallace Mason Jr. Chapter of the National Honor Society at Mexia High School led a December 6 assembly on the four pillars scholarship character leadership and service. Speeches by Linda Miller Dorothy Hardin Molly Walker and Jolanda Love trace the ideals and duties of worthy leadership and civic contribution.
The Mexia High School Chapter of the Future Nurses of America met Wednesday morning December 5 for its first regular meeting of the month. The girls selected aqua and white as colors and white carnation as the official flower. The club named The Nightingales and adopted Light your lamps for service as the motto. No meeting until January due to holiday activities.
A Christmas assembly is planned for December 21 with the Student Council and High School Choir performing. The council will present a humorous Night Before Christmas satire while the choir sings carols and joins in several songs. The nativity scene will also be presented.

Aladdin Seals prizes funded library books. amounts ranged 12.60 to 40.00 over ten years. 4B2 presented American Heritage program with songs and poems about the flag. Christmas program plans include Silent Night recitations and Santa theme play.
The Student Council reports a highly successful candy sale, the main fund raiser of the year, with six groups competing. Winning team members include Warner Craft Carolyn Fletcher Karen Oberholzer Kris Roberts and Barbara Burkett. Extra boxes remain for sale to members at one dollar.
Principal Jene Holt directs a Christmas assembly in the auditorium during activity period featuring the Junior High Choir. The final day ends with a gym party for seventh and eighth graders with homeroom gift exchanges, refreshments, dancing, and games.
The Jr High basketball team began its season with a game against Fairfield Jr High, held Thursday December 6. Edmund Schuster, 1960 Mexia High School graduate and Blinn College alumnus, is on leave from the U S Navy Medical Corps. He trained as a psychiatry technician and worked at the state hospital in Austin. He plans further study in chemistry after his Navy service ends.
