Dunbar School Honors Six on Honor Roll

Six Dunbar High School students were named to the Honor Roll for the second six weeks by Principal W. D. Dunn. The roll includes seniors Mary Braggs and Patricia Ann Smith, juniors Dorothy Benson and Brenda Strickland, sophomore Larry Freeman, and freshman Donald Summons.

Future Nurses Plan Christmas Programs

The Senior Chapter of the Future Nurses Club met on Wednesday December 3 to discuss Christmas prep for General Mexia Hospital Haven and Nelson Nursing Homes. Plans will be made at the next called meeting. Emblems were handed to new members and dues paid.

Wardlaw Chosen Sweetheart for Lions Club Here

Mary Kay Wardlaw the senior at Mexia High has been selected as Lions Club sweetheart for December. She is a National Honor Society member and Academic Sweater Award winner. Wardlaw is co editor and editor of the annual and serves as senior F H A vice president and Future Nurses member. She has six years in the band and is lieutenant in charge of social affairs.

Carol Robinson Receives Merit Award at Mexia High

Carol Robinson, arts and journalism contributor for Mexia Daily News and Blackcat Purrpose, received a merit award Thursday from the Student Court assembly. A bracelet was presented by Blackcat basketball players and Coach Jones in appreciation of her cartoons and illustrations gracing the school page.

Council Sells Swell For MHS Candy Sale

The Mexia High School fundraiser raised about 4000 dollars from a Monday night candy sale in Teague. Wally Gootmen, president of Codfichl, reported the profit was well over initial hopes as groups vied for the aid award.

Needy Family Project Highlighted by MHS Student Council

The MHS Student Council Executive Committee planned a Christmas fundraiser on Wednesday December 4 1963 at the home of Mrs Stuver to aid a needy family. Candy sales by Group Two including Mary Kay Wardlaw Mark Wilts Carmin Kathy Manda Gail McCullough and Wally Goodman raised the most funds.
