The Mexia High School honor roll lists 58 students across seniors juniors sophomores and freshmen. Seventy three students are named including 28 seniors 14 juniors 18 sophomores and 7 freshmen with 25 boys and 35 girls on the list.
For Mexia High School students and staff the December 7 1941 Pearl Harbor attack remains a charged memory. relatos recount reactions from teachers and families as the nation faced surprise attack and years later students reflect on preparedness and courage.
Mexia Junior High School Student Council met to plan a Christmas program and party before holiday break and to discuss proceeds from a cake sale in downtown Mexia. The group also organized a book drive with about 70 books shared between the high school library, the junior high library, and the Mexia Public Library.
The Ross Avenue Elementary page covers student plays, Thanksgiving poems, and new enrollments Elaine and Douglas Howard from Mildred Texas. It notes a Japan talk by Mrs Ferguson, intramural football results, holiday countdown, honor rolls across grades two to six, and classroom whimsy observations about pests and language.

The New Homemakers of America at Dunbar High School plan a trip to Prairie View for a state meet on Saturday December 5 and a formal Christmas party on December 18. Members will bring two gifts, and the Junior class fundraising includes selling refreshments and candy orders. The Dunbar High Band earned a rating of II at the Region II marching contest in Richfield, with several school teams earning placements.
The council plans holiday events as students prepare a Christmas parade float with the theme Peace. Five girls rode the float bearing cards reading Hope Love Faith Joy and Prayer, including Janice King Peggy Thomas Gail Sellers and Patsy Fullerton.
Patsy Fullerton daughter of a local resident was chosen as Mexia Lions Heart Sweetheart. She has served on the Student Council for three years and is secretary treasurer of the Senior Class. Patsy was selected to represent Mexia High School at Girls State last summer. She is active in Church of Christ activities and plans to use the proceeds from a December slave sale project to aid needy families.
Mexia High School Future Nurses of America held a meeting before Thanksgiving with officer elections led by President Carolyn Tidwell. New officers include Shirley Page as vice president Linda Henderson secretary Debbie Jackson treasurer Martha Clark reporter Renell Rudder and Candice Copeland parliamentarian. Plans to renew the club charter with the National League for Nursing and order emblems were announced along with a 50 cent dues per member for the year.

Mexia High School installed fireproof curtains for the auditorium, purchased from Texas Scenic Company of San Antonio for 1790 dollars. Superintendent B E Oberholtzer says the upgrade improves facilities and will support more events. black-out curtains are planned for film showings. Dunbar School also received new cafeteria drapes and curtains valued around 1000 dollars, with principal Mr. Bilson expressing pride.
