Funeral services at Thornton for Evan Leroy Clewis
Funeral services were held at Central Baptist Church for Evan Leroy Clewis a 70 year old Thornton man who died after a heart attack at the Falls County Livestock Auction. Rev. T E Caldwell officiated and burial followed in Thornton cemetery. He lived locally most of his life and worked at the auction since 1932. He is survived by five daughters two sons and numerous siblings and grandchildren.

Eighteen freight cars of a northbound Southern Pacific freight train derailed in Livingston today. Four cars crashed in the downtown area. No injuries were reported. Two tank cars spilled thousands of gallons of molasses. A coal hopper car landed on the courthouse lawn and another car stopped short of a bakery.
