Groesbeck Livestock Auction posted its highest prices in seven years with 1537 head sold. Slaughter calves reached 31.00 dollars, light stockers up to 36 dollars, and all calf and yearling classes advanced 1 to 2 dollars from the week before Thanksgiving. Fire Destroys Barn on Tehuacana-Area Farm
A fire destroyed a barn on Joe Thornton’s farm about two miles northeast of Tehuacana yesterday afternoon. Mexia firefighters arrived late, saving fence posts and gates. Several hundred bales of hay a jeep and much corn burned. the jeep was inside the barn. Cause undetermined. Thornton family and visitors were present.

Former Temple Resident Dies After Illness
Mrs. Wayne Thompson of Temple died Saturday night after a two month illness in a Temple hospital. Funeral services are set for tomorrow afternoon at First Baptist Church Temple with Rev. Grady Metcalf officiating. She had lived in Mexia and Groesbeck before moving to Temple. she is survived by her husband and a son Billy Wayne Thompson.
