A Fairfield boy, Jerry Denton ten, was killed in a Groesbeck downtown crash at the Highway 14 and 164 intersection. His father, Leonard Denton, was seriously injured, along with Wayne Daniel, 15, and R M Mundine, both from Fairfield. The accident also involved William Johnson of Hearne. Jerry had been being treated in Cox's hospital in Groesbeck. Funeral services set for Fairfield tomorrow.
Six Mexia High School students from the Press club and Black Cat annual staff travel to Denton to join about 100 schools at the Texas State College for Women three day convention. They will meet Charles Laughton during the TSCW artist course series. Mrs. Paul Page and Mrs. R. G. Jenkins accompany the delegation.

A 40 year old Houston visitor was beaten on a downtown street in Fort Worth. While being transported to a hospital by ambulance, the ambulance collided with a car.
Mexia Jaycees PeeWee football team will be joined by three twirlers for the Milk Bowl contest in Waco against the New Orleans Jays on December 30. Three girls under 14 will compete in a selection contest at Mexia High School band house tomorrow at 4 o'clock, with Band Director Ross Whitehead as judge. Each contestant must bring her own baton.

Explorer Scouts of Troop 63 sponsored by the Mexia VFW post collect toys for needy Mexia children. Old toys will be repaired and repainted by scouts and VFW auxiliary, then given to children. J. H. Outlaw, Mexia post commander, notes VFW and Disabled American Veterans will donate $100 each to aid needy families this Christmas.
