Ford Sedan Sets Coast to Coast Record in 47 Hours 37 Minutes

A stock 1957 Ford Fairlane club sedan set a coast to coast endurance record of 47 hours 37 minutes for a 2913 mile New York to Los Angeles trip while staying within speed limits. The drive, completed November 12, was timed by NASCAR officials and confirmed by Ford Motor Company. Drivers were Danny Eames and Chuck Daigh. The car had also set a Bonneville salt flats record of 50,000 miles in under 200 days.

Drive to ban beer sales in grocery stores

The Women's Christian Temperance Union of Texas launched a drive for a bill in the coming legislature to ban alcoholic beverage sales at grocery stores. At the group’s annual convention readers displayed petitions signed by 10 000 persons backing the ban on beer and liquor sales at greengrocery stores.
