Oran Coleman, new sheriff of Williamson county, arrests George Galligan, the man he succeeds, on charges raised by Mrs. Charles Willard. She alleges Galligan was responsible for the death of her husband during the St. Glenn Young era in 1924.
G W Dessey of Dallas was charged with the slaying of his wife Gertrude Dessey Sunday night. He refused to discuss the case, saying his lawyer advised silence. He was found playing cards with other prisoners when questioned.
Five thousand pounds of powder exploded at the Du Pont plant in Carney's Point New Jersey this afternoon causing a fire. Early reports listed four or five dead and three injured with two identified as William Tonden and John Kelly. The blast occurred in a dry house and glazing house used for smoke less powder production.
