Limestone County sees eighth traffic death this year
A 25 year old Paul Thomas Bolton of Thornton was killed on the Navasota river bridge curve near Ft. Parker State park entrance when his Ford ran onto the shoulder and overturned killing him instantly. J C Milam of Mexia rode in the car and was uninjured. Police say speed may have been a factor. Justice of the Peace Roy Kirton held an inquest.

Funeral services for Paul Bolton were held at the Connally Shelton chapel at 2 PM conducted by Rev Aubrey Briggs and Rev Olin Waldrip. Burial followed in Faulkenberry cemetery Groesbeck with Cornally Shelton funeral home in charge. He is survived by his parents Verna Bolton Rt 1 Thornton a brother Parker Bolton Connally Air Force Base Waco and a sister Bettie Whitaker of New Mexico.

Speeding arrests lead to bank robbery suspect capture
Officers stopped two motorists for speeding then found they had arrested the gunmen who held up the Sheppard Air Force Base post exchange and stole $10,000. The Mexia Lions club will host a noon program by The Rangers Quartet with Mexia High football guests.

Scouts Clean Old Cemetery as Hundreds View Work
More than 300 people watched Limestone and Freestone county Scouts clear underbrush and rebuild gravesites at Springfield cemetery in Fort Parker State Park. Troop 64 led by Lucas and the Shiloh unit built a large entrance arch under Rip McKenzie supervision with 900 to 1,000 man hours reported.

Pig Show Highlights Black Vocational Students in Mexia
About 60 pigs were shown by Black student exhibitors in the Mexia Athens district pig show at the Mexia auction barn. Cash prizes and ribbons were awarded with six divisions including senior gilt junior gilt junior boar mature sow mature boar and fat barrow. Judges were J W Booker and K K Daingerfield county agents. Prize money was raised by the Mexia Chamber of Commerce the Mexia Black Chamber and Black agricultural chapters.

Fort Worth police report says the Superior supermarket was robbed last night by bandits for the third time in six months. Manager Bill George said about $200 in cash was taken and the thieves also took keys during the break in.
