A Teague group formed the Teague Hunting Party twenty four years ago in Fredericksburg Texas on the Henry Schmidt Ranch. They hunted deer and turkey with old gear, camped for up to ten days, and built trail roads and deer stands. The current group is led by E C Nicholas and Guy Bond and includes members from Teague Donie and Austin. They begin at 5 AM each year and travel by old roads to a camp where they cook, play dominoes, and hunt daily. Meat is processed at Fredericksburg and shared with families and friends.
A Texas horse tale from 1934 recounts buying a black stud colt named Rex on Hopkins Street near the Johnson Mill camp. The narrator and his ten year old son break him to ride, move him 56 miles to the Den Ranch beyond the Trinity, and later coax him into a trailer after a lip pinch, ending with a fond farewell.
The Nixon administration touts its rent watch as stopping thousands of illegal increases after a 20 percent Social Security boost. IRS checked 90,000 rental units, 24 minor violations found, one sent to the Justice Department. IRS received 2,178 complaints, 1,462 investigated revealing 404 violations. Penalties totaling $28,819 were assessed on 15 landlords, four settled, others on appeal.
