Texarkana Tex Dec 3 The opening of the Golden Jubilee marks Texarkana’s semi centennial with a morning parade and parade–style celebrations. Final arrangements were completed and the gates of the exposition will be opened after the parade. The event features ten gallon era clothing and fashions from forty or fifty years ago.
Reported in a Dec 5 following, 13 inmates escaped from a north prison through a tunnel burrowed under a powerhouse. Guards, peace officers, and residents across Lansing Leavenworth and nearby towns hunted the fugitives as trains were stopped and a 50 mile district cordon formed. Castro led men with good records in short terms, digging a tunnel amid suffocation and digging out through refuse.
