Tokyo report states Mrs. Marothy Smith daughter of Gen Walter Kreuger was sane on the night she fatally stabbed her husband and capable of standing trial. A medical board found she could distinguish right from wrong and adhere to it when stabbing Col. Smith on Oct 3 in their bedroom. The case now rests with Brig Gen Onslow Rolfe to decide if further military action is warranted.

Funeral Services Held In Mexia For Ike Lee Horton
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist church in Mexia for Ike Lee Horton 58 who died in a Houston hospital after a heart attack. The Rev W R Blackmon and Rev Cecil McBeth conducted the service with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery near Kirven. Horton born Fairfield Nov 1 1894 lived in Limestone and Bosque counties and worked at Mexia Textile for 18 years before moving to Houston. He was a World War I veteran survived by his widow and several children including daughters in San Antonio and a son in City Oklahoma. A brother and sister also survive in Texas.

The remodeled Jimmies Cafe at 207 East Commerce Street offers free doughnuts cinnamon rolls and coffee to visitors during its formal opening on Thursday at 8 a m. The restaurant changed ownership to Mr and Mrs Floyd Duke from Mr and Mrs C R Bachus who started the business over 15 years ago. The interior features rose beige and blue tones with yellow trim new asphalt tile and beige blue leather booths.
