At Mexia area near Rock Island crossing two people died and a teen was injured when a car struck a moving freight train. Bobby Joe Palmore and his mother Lola Mae Palmore of Teague perished. Millard Busby Jr. of Teague was hospitalized after the 7:25 p.m. crash three miles southeast of Mexia.ний

Heavy Fog Rescue Frees Trapped Farmer Near Paducah
In Paducah Kentucky a Calvert City farmer Fred MacFarland aged 33 was trapped for about an hour when his hand became caught in a corn picker. Ohio River tug Robin crew heard a scream in fog and freed him then summoned emergency help. He suffered a broken finger and a torn hand but was released after hospital treatment.

Funeral Services Held Thursday For Billie Harkins
Funeral services were held at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas on Thursday afternoon for Billie Clyde Harkins 37 who died at Mexia State School hospital Tuesday. The Rev. R V Nelson officiated and burial followed at Grove Hill with Corley Funeral Home of Mexia in charge.
