Plane Crashes Into Sousa Bridge Over Anacostia
A single engine Navy bomber struck the Sousa Bridge over the Anacostia River and hung burning on the south rail before skidding to the north rail. The pilot escaped injury and no other vehicles were reported damaged. Captain James H. McKay of Anacostia Naval Air Station said the landing attempt failed to clear the bridge during a forced landing.

Air Hostess Dies Saving Passengers in Seattle Crash
Reva Monk, 22, of Seattle, perished after guiding passengers to safety as Alaska Airlines four engine airliner overran a runway at Seattle Tacoma Airport, crashed through a car on a highway, then burned.
