Roy Clark Thomas 2 of 308 W Fannin Street died Tuesday morning in General Mexia Hospital Annex. Services planned at Corley Funeral Home with Rev C D Wooten officiating and burial in Forest Glade cemetery. Born March 21 1884 near Forest Glade, he lived in Mexia 27 years, was a retired oilfield worker and Methodist. Survivors include daughter Mrs Zollie Rochell Mason grandson brother Joe Thomas Ballinger and sister Mrs Nora Gaston Littlefield.

Seaman Recruit William M. Parker aged 23 son of Mr and Mrs Hubert M Parker of Mexic has graduated after nine weeks at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes Indiana He studied seamanship survival military drill and basic subjects under veteran petty officers as he begins naval service. A separate item notes Georgia hunts group planning a howl in protest over hunting season dates.
A Rock Island freight train derailed early Monday 16 miles east of Amarillo injuring crew members. Twenty three cars jumped the tracks as the locomotive and several cars left the rail line near a rural area, causing material damage and traffic disruption.
