Rev A W DeGuire pastor of the First Presbyterian Church has asked the Central Texas Presbytery to dissolve his relationship with the local church. The request was turned over to Rev David Currie of Austin and announced from the pulpit. The congregational meeting is planned for late August or early September to consider the action with the Presbytery to vote on September 14 in Taylor. DeGuire has served in Mexia since 1942 and will be away for several days before a further statement.
