Dorothy Ellingson a 16 year old known as a titian haired jazz baby was found insane by a San Francisco jury after being convicted of murdering her mother. She fainted in court as the verdict was read and will be committed to a home for the insane.
Mexia school board approved a plan for religious education proposed by the Mothers Council and the Pastors Association and set a date to begin the program. Rev W B Andrews and Mrs Fred Bennett presented the plan and it received unanimous support along with a request for a detailed course plan and scholastic credit consideration. Prof C A Puckett will assist, and several city churches are joining the effort.
Tulsa April 9. Jurors hear cross examination over who engineered the deal in which Eugene Purdy allegedly sold his wife Helen to E S Hutchison. Reeves read the 1924 contract giving Purdy five thousand dollars cash and Tulsa property valued at forty to fifty thousand dollars following a raid on the Monticello apartment.
The Interstate Commerce Commission was asked by the Dallas Cleburne and Southwestern railroad to abandon 10 miles of track between Cleubrne and Dallas.

Passengers on a carnival wheel were stranded for thirty minutes when San Antonio police raided a show and arrested five on gaming charges. Promoters and performers fled as officers arrived. rescue came when a trained operator found.
More than two thousand delegates expected to attend the opening session of the Texas Cotton Ginners convention in Dallas. Speakers include Joe E. Edmondson of the Texas Farm Labor Union and John T. Orr of the Texas Farm Bureau. Officers to be elected Friday to close the two day event.
Orange reporter states Ms. J. C. Wiggins a 48 year old Orange merchant’s wife was killed late last night when she dismounted a moving passenger train at the station. Both legs were severed in the accident.
At a noon Rotary luncheon Dr. Jim Watson presented the Clean Up Campaign. Jim Hodges Albert Berry and Walter Anderson offered trucks to the effort along with other citizens who had volunteered to haul trash out of Mexia. Trucks will report to the Sits Hall early Saturday for instructions.
A Mexia committee sets May 6 as J K Hughes Day to honor civic booster J E Hughes. The afternoon marks the official opening of Mexia Textile Mills with a big ceremony and the chamber banquet in the evening attracting farmers districtwide. Notables John W McFarlane Victor H Schaffenmayer Joseph F Leopold expected as speakers.

In Galveston reports, San Antonio prohibition officers closed a week of raids with over 2000 bottles of beer and 165 gallons of mash seized. Frank Piycchio was arrested on manufacture and possession charges, with eight additional arrests made that week.
