Mesquite fire units report no major blazes, handling a car fire and a garbage container fire. Ambulance crews responded Thursday at 11 03 to a major crash at Kearney and Galloway, two women injured and one with minor injuries taken to hospital. Earlier, Wednesday, ambulances were dispatched to Kimbrough and Jalanda for a major accident, and to Kearney and Carmack for another crash. Weather ahead calls for partly cloudy skies with isolated thundershowers Friday and Saturday, highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s.

Mesquite to receive $166000 HUD development funds
The city will get 166000 as the first annual grant from the Housing and Urban Development Act for six years, totaling six million dollars.
