Mesquite Planning and Zoning Commission met in City Council Chambers to table a request by Jim Abston and Fred Wynn to amend the Zoning Ordinance from R-3 to Planned Development for Apartments and General Retail on 28.5 acres at the IH 635 and IH 20 intersection. The item will be heard July 28 1975, possibly with a 43 acre nearby parcel. The commission also reviewed land resources and Single Family Zoning procedures and approved June 9 1975 minutes while delaying further discussion until full attendance.

Ivy Baker Priest Former U.S. Treasurer Dies at 69
Ivy Baker Priest, former U.S. treasurer and longtime Republican stalwart, died Monday night at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica after a long cancer battle. Priest served as treasurer from 1953 to 1960 under Eisenhower and earlier sought Utah legislative and House seats in 1934 and 1950.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 510 based at Lake Bay Hubbard secured a Mesquite proclamation from Mayor Bob Beard designating June 28 to July 5 as Safe Boating Week.
