Two Story House Fire at Ivy Drive Guts Mesquite Home
Early Monday morning a two story residence at Ivy and La Prada burned from a causal blaze. Fire Chief James Lewis said the upper floor was engulfed as units from three stations battled the flames. The home valued at 36000 with contents around 12000 suffered about eighty percent loss with occupants evacuated and seeking temporary lodging.

Crash in Rain Kills Balch Springs Man
Funeral services were held for Kenneth Renfro 28 of Balch Springs who died when his car struck a utility pole during a light rain on a Mesquite area street. Police said he lost control on a rain slick and was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife Diane, a daughter Karri Rene, and his parents and siblings.

Summer Arrives With Record Lows In DFW Area
The Mesquite area welcomed summer early Monday as temperatures fell to a record low of 59 degrees just before sunup Fort Worth recorded 58 degrees Forecasters from the National Weather Service attributed the drop to a dry cool air mass from the northern United States moving into the Dallas Fort Worth area before dawn, bringing temperatures about 13 degrees below the June 21 average.
