Officials Cheer Aluminum Recycling Push in Mesquite
Reynolds Recycling Co and Mesquite officials praise early progress of the new aluminum collection program. In the first week last Thursday June 12 about 837 pounds were picked up at the City collection point behind Hillcrest Community Center from 3:30 to 7 pm. The program pays 15 cents per pound for scrap aluminum and cans.

Refugees in Arkansas protest delayed repatriation to Vietnam

Bald Springs Library Opens Summer Reading Program
Bald Springs Public Library launches a summer reading program for children from first grade to 13 years old. Participants who read 15 books earn a certificate from Dallas County Library. Balch Springs Plans Biggest Parade Bid for Bicentennial
Balch Springs Bicentennial Committee finalized details for a June 28 parade forming at First Bank and traveling Shepherd to Quail, Hickory Tree to Lew Park with Grand Marshal Dallas Cowboy Bob Lilly. Dignitaries include County Commissioner Jim Tyson and State leaders. Units from all services, youth groups, bands, and old time cars participate.
