North Mesquite Creek Sewer Outfall Project Launch
City officials announce a 10 a m ceremony at Kearney Street and State Highway 352 to mark the start of the North Mesquite Creek Sanitary Sewer Outfall. Kemp Construction will build a 10 mile trunk at a cost of 1 299 136 funded 75 percent by the federal government and 25 percent by Mesquite. The project aims to open 8000 acres for development and take 300 working days to complete.

Mesquite Council Eyes Employee Pay Increases On Agenda
Mesquite City Council will discuss an ordinance to raise pay for classified fire police and other city employees at a 1:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall. The plan follows a February referendum approving a $785 monthly minimum for policemen and includes firemen in a revised pay system. Several Hurt in Smashup Near Mesquite
A 3:30 p.m. Friday crash on U S Highway 67 west of Gus Thomas Road in Mesquite injured several people, one seriously, when a car hit a parked motor home with a boat trailer. Roy Edward Penny of Baldwins Springs drove the 1954 Chevrolet involved. five of six passengers were hospitalized. Boat salesman Jimmy Nail and his family were uninjured. Traffic was tied up for minutes.
