Gladyne Smith, president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Amvets Post 10 in Mesquite, invites residents to a benefit dance at 528 South Galloway Ave. starting 8 p.m. Friday June 10 to aid 14 year old Kevin Ellis with medical expenses after a hip fracture and subsequent bone deterioration. Tickets are $1.50 in advance at the Amvet post, $2 at the door, with music by Blackie Jenkins and the Satellites.

Nuclear boiler component moves toward Comanche Peak plant
A 347 ton reactor vessel for Texas first nuclear plant travels from Chattanooga to Houston by river barge then by rail to Comanche Peak near Glen Rose. It will rest in a cradle, be uprighted by a 450 ton crane and installed in the main building after the new year.
