Mesquite Night Boosts Rangers Win Over Red Sox in Arlington
About 1 700 Mesquite fans in 14 chartered buses packed Arlington Stadium for a 3 1 Rangers victory over Fergie Jenkins and the Boston Red Sox. Pre game Mesquite Night featured a batting contest won by Jim Murray, with Sonny Franks singing the national anthem and Mayor BJ Smith making the first pitch. Enthusiastic Mesquite Jaycees kept the crowd lively amid concession-hungry fans and school cheer squads raising spirits.
