First jet lands at Hudson Airport Mesquite
The first jet powered plane to land at Hudson Airport touched down on the new runway at 11 05 am Saturday. The craft owned by Hal Mays of Dallas is in process of sale to an out of state buyer for about 180000. County Commissioner David Pickett made his first solo flight during a training session at the airport.

React group aids storm alert during busy Wednesday weather
During violent weather in the Dallas area a volunteer React radio group gave advance warnings as part of the Civil Defense Warning network. The team staffed base stations in Dallas, Irving, Garland, Mesquite, Grand Prairie and parts of Tarrant County with 412 core members and 400 temporary enrollees. Ray Slaughter was listed for inquiries. Harold Taft credited React with helping prevent deaths. A second item notes the drowning of Billy Jeffrey, 37, in Lake Bay Hubbard after a Memorial Day weekend incident, with body recovered Monday after initial drag operations were hampered by rain.

Mesquite Council Hears $1 Million Civil Action
Mesquite City Council met in a closed session Friday to discuss a $1 million civil action filed May 18 in U S District Court in Dallas against the City of Mesquite and Officer Danny Ray Jones. Plaintiffs Charlie Chapman Fryar and Dick Fryar allege excessive force during a July 12, 1975 arrest at a Mesquite apartment complex. Fryar seeks $750,000 and $250,000 respectively. Defendants have until June 8, 1976 to answer. City Attorney Elland Archer declined further comment.
